Exercise and slushie?

May 19th, 2010 admin No comments

Generally we exercise to stay fit and to lose weight, right? Drinking slushie on the other hand means gaining back the calories we lost from exercising. However, in the article “To Beat the Heat, Drink a Slushie First” written by Gina Kolata in New York Times, it features that pre-cooling effect which you get from drinking slushie before exercising can delay exhaustion.

If you are hitting the park for rigorous outdoor sports or exercise during a hot day, then take time first to read the article “To Beat the Heat, Drink a Slushie First”. Although you may wonder how you can put in vain the burned calories by sipping ice slurry, it is worth to find out and understand that sipping slushie can be beneficial to you too.

December 15th, 2009 admin No comments

November was the busiest month of the year for FitFarms. We ran three fitness and weight loss camps on 13th, 20th and 27th November. We are closed for the month of December and we’re back in action on 22nd January.

Julie and Stephen have started to plan the Advanced FitFarms programme. We will be running two in 2010 one in March and the other in September. FitFarms will send a newsletter to everyone with full details of the course.

We will also send a newsletter informing you of which parks FitParks will be opening in next. It will probably be Battersea in London followed by the other London parks.

We wish everyone a Happy Christmas and Julie (health manager) has a special Christmas message.

Remember the 80% - 20% rule over the festive season and don’t forget to carry on exercising Happy Christmas to you all” - Julie

These rigorous physical activities s are indeed effective in shedding unwanted pounds and building fitness fast. So if you consider this option to get fit, here are at least the five things you can expect in any fitness or weight loss camps.

Varied Activities. The exercise activities are varied because a fitness boot camp aims to break the boring and monotonous routines in the typical gym.

Spirit of Teamwork. It is more motivating to workout with people who shared the same goals as yours. Also, your group and instructor can be source of inspiration and support to help you continue with your fitness program. It will be a teamwork motivation and effort for a common goal.

After-Program Support. It is easy to workout if you are surrounded with motivated individuals however the greater challenge awaits after you finish the boot camp program. It is important that your boot camp has support group or person you can contact after the program is over.

In this way, you can rely for support and find a source for motivation in situations where you are discouraged to continue keeping a healthy lifestyle.

Educational. As part of your training, it is expected that your trainers will impart you with tips and information about health, weight, fitness and nutrition. These are valuable information that you can use particularly once the fitness or weight loss program is over.

Qualified Personnel. It is not only about the trainer’s qualification. There should be qualified nutritionist and dietitians too. A long term weight loss is sustained through proper balance in nutrition and exercise.

FitParks Opens In Cannon Hill Park

July 29th, 2009 admin No comments

FitParks has opened in Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham.

The FitParks trainer is called Wendy and her first session was brilliant. Twenty of the women who arrived at the park for ‘the first session is free’ had an hour of Wendy’s intense but fun workout. All the women have signed up for the month where they will receive two one hour training sessions per week, nutritional advice from Julia FitzGerald the nutritional thereapist from The Daily Telegraph, exercise reminders and access to a forum where you can receive support from trainers and friends you meet in the park training session. The Sports Science boot camp approach creates a more caring enviroment than the military boot camp approach. The FitParks trainers will give you better results short and long term due to sports science that they have studied. Training sessions are fun, varied and results driven.
